Clinics & Camps

We offer two different clinics and camps, Shooting & Finishing and 1st TouchShooting & Finishing is geared toward the advanced player and 1st touch is designed for the younger player.

Shooting & Finishing

The emphasis of the Shooting & Finishing clinics and camps is on attacking principles of play with a focus on data-informed exercises for scoring goals - the hardest part of the gameSee the images below for the key transition and finishing zones (14 & 17) along with the xG heat map.

What if I am not a forward/striker?

Because the fundamental movement skills of shooting and finishing are highly dynamic, all field positions will benefit from these exercises by increasing their perception-action coupling ability — a requisite for all high performers in every position.

The curriculum for the Shooting & Finishing clinics and camps was created using current soccer analytics to accelerate learning and execution. The clinics and camps are designed to maximize the transfer of training to match performance for both attackers and defenders.

The Shooting & Finishing clinics and camps are tailored to the advanced level player and open to all positions (including goalkeepers) ages 11-18.

1st Touch

The 1st Touch clinics and camps are specifically designed for young developing players ages 7-12 years: a crucial period for technical development.

The foundation of all soccer skills is the 1st Touch, which distinguishes high-performing players from others. Research consistently shows that technical ability is essential for being 'skillful,' and 'skill' is a strong predictor of future performance, separating elite players from non-elite ones. International talent identification scouts consistently identify technical skills as the most significant predictor of future success in soccer.

The main objective of the 1st Touch program is to provide young developing players with a learner-centered environment, where the 1st Touch (technical skills) is advanced to a high-performing functional level. The transfer of training to match performance is maximized using an evidence-informed approach to skill development.

The curriculum for the 1st Touch program is designed around technical exercises that equip players with the competence and confidence needed to excel in match situations.

Curriculum

Ball control enables possession retention, evasion of opponents, and creation of scoring opportunities.

Dribbling helps players advance up the field, create space, and beat opponents.

Different types of passes (short, long, and through passes) help maintain possession and create scoring chances.

Accurate and powerful shots are valuable assets. Players practice different foot placements (inside or outside) and work on accuracy from various angles and distances.

“It is not the quantity of overall practice that is crucial, but rather the quantity of focused and effortful (deliberate) practice which differentiates between more and less accomplished individuals” (Ericsson et al., 1993).
